How you get to the castle

There are several ways to get to the castle:

By Car

From Prague, take the E65 road towards Mladá Boleslav and Liberec. Turn off at the 71st km towards Turnov and Rovensko pod Troskami. Continue along the E442 road to the village of Borek pod Troskami, where you turn right towards the village of Troskovice and Trosky Castle (3 km). The turn-off to the castle is marked along the way. There is a parking lot below the castle, from where a footpath leads uphill for about 500 m.

By Train

The nearest train station is either in the village Borek pod Troskami (approx. 3.5 km from the castle along the blue tourist trail) or in the village Ktová (approx. 3.5 km from the castle along the green tourist trail). The train journey from Prague to Borek pod Troskami takes approx. 2.5 hours with a transfer in Turnov

By Bus

The best way to get there by bus is to go to the Hrubá Skála, Borek stop, from where it is a 3.5 km walk to the castle along the blue tourist trail. There are direct connections from Turnov, Jičín, Hradec Králové, and Liberec. There are only a few regular buses to Troskovice, but in summer you can take the tourist bus that runs from Jičín via Prachovské skály, Jinolice, and Troskovice to Hrubá Skála. If you use this connection, you can get off at the Svitačka campsite stop, from where it is 1.3 km to the castle along the green and blue tourist trails.

Bicycle

There is a no-entry zone on the road to the castle from the parking lot. If you decide to push your bike to the castle gate, there is a rack where you can lock your bike. We will lend you a chain with a lock for a refundable deposit of CZK 200. Bicycles are not allowed inside the castle grounds.

On Foot

The castle is located on several hiking trails. There is a signpost with hiking trails directly below the castle. It is up to you which route you choose and how fit you are as hikers. You can follow the hiking signs from Sobotka, Hrubá Skála, Valdštejn, Borecké skály, or Podtrosecké rybníky. You can combine your trip to Trosky with a visit to other interesting tourist destinations in the Bohemian Paradise.
