Castle surroundings
Trip for all day leads you to Podtrosecké valley with some ponds, rocks towns, woods and meadows.
The route is about 16 km long and can be walked as a circuit. It is up to you where you start and where you finish. It should take you about 5 hours, depending on how slowly you walk. We recommend it as a day trip with several stops. It is best to arrive by train or car to Borek pod Troskami and start here. First, visit the Borek Rocks, a short distance along the blue tourist trail from the Borek railway station. Then head back to Borek and around Rokytnický Pond and Hrudka Pond to Vidlák. Here you will find a peat bog (more like a pond) and a campsite. From Vidlák, continue past the rocks, wetlands, and Krčák Pond to Věžický Pond. From there, continue to the signpost in the Žehrovka Valley and on past Podsemínský Pond to Nebák (pond, campsite). When the wind and water currents are favourable, you can swim at Nebák. From there, head uphill through the forest along Nebák Pond. You will come out in Křenovy and continue past the Svitačka campsite further uphill to Trosky. The Svitačka campsite is connected to the Apolena rock town, which is unfortunately currently closed to the public. A tour of the castle takes less than an hour, but you can rest, refresh yourself, and use the restroom in the courtyard. Once you have rested, continue along the blue trail back to the forest below Trosky to the train or your car. This is all downhill (3 km). You can also start the route at Trosky Castle and continue in the opposite direction, i.e., Nebák - Věžák - Vidlák - Borecké skály - Trosky.
